About Fincastle Country Club

Our Club is Unique.

Fincastle Country Club is unique because it is located in the Greater Bluefield Area and is a mountainous community made up of not one, but two cities - Bluefield, Virginia and Bluefield, West Virginia.  Known as "nature's air conditioned cities," free lemonade is served when the temperature reaches 90 degrees or greater.

Bluefield is located 108 miles south of Charleston, West Virginia, 110 miles west of Roanoke, Virginia, 105 miles northeast from Bristol, Virginia/Tennessee, 120 miles north of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and 177 miles north of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Designed by noted golf course architect Dick Wilson, the course opened for play in 1963.  Fincastle was one of Mr. Wilson's last designs before his death in 1965.  Mr. Wilson is noted for his design of the "Blue Monster" at Doral, Laurel Valley and Seminole.

Fincastle has hosted two West Virginia Opens, two Virginia Junior Championships, one West Virginia Junior Championship, one Virginia Golf Association 4-Ball Championship and annually serves as a qualifying site for USGA and VSGA events.  Fincastle hosted the 1997 Women's Western Junior Championship.

At 2600 feet in elevation, the course places a premium on shot making with the short irons and the putter.
